Church History

Our Story: 10 Years of Faith & Family
What started as a Bible study on a back porch in 2014 with 16 faithful friends has grown into a thriving community of over 200 adults and children.

In November 2015, Pastors Junior and Trudy Tucker, alongside a dedicated core team, officially launched Family Word & Worship with a clear mandate: to be a place of healing and wholeness according to Isaiah 61:1proclaiming good news to the poor, binding up the broken-hearted, and setting captives free.

From our first service at New Kingston Shopping Centre to where we stand today, God has been faithful. We’ve witnessed countless lives transformed, families restored, and hearts healed. We’re not just a church we’re a family on mission together.

As we celebrate our 10th anniversary, we’re more committed than ever to creating a space where the hurting find hope, the lost find home, and everyone encounters the life-changing love of Jesus Christ.

CORE BELIEFS

01

1 Corinthians 8:6, 2 Corinthians 3:17

We believe in a Triune God. God the Father, God the Son, God the Holy Sprint.

02

Hebrews 4:12

We believe the Old and New Testament scriptures are given by the inspiration of God and contain all truth necessary for faith and Christian living. It is alive and active.

03

Romans 3:23

We define sin, as missing the mark. Humans are all born with a sinful nature and are in need of forgiveness and cleansing which sets us free from a life of bondage to sin and reconciles us back to God.

04

Romans 10:9, 1 Timothy 2:5

Jesus Christ, is the Son of God born of human flesh to a virgin. He lived a life free of sin, did miracles, was crucified, died, was buried and rose from the dead. He will one day return according to scripture. Acceptance of this finished work, atones for our sins and is the only way to reconcile us to God – Salvation.

05

Galatians 5:22-23

Simultaneously or subsequent to salvation, we believe the Holy Spirit comes to live inside of humans. He bears witness to our new birth (Born Again), empowers us to bear spiritual fruit and participate in the mission of God.

06

Acts 2

We believe in Pentecost and the expression of the Holy Spirit, through miracles, signs and wonders, the speaking of unknown tongues and delivery of prophetic words.

07

2 Corinthians 5:17

We believe that water Baptism by immersion follows salvation and is the public expression of your new life in Christ. It symbolizes your death to the old ways of living and your commitment to living a new life in Christ.

08

Matthew 19:14

We believe that infants should be dedicated to the Lord and are under the covering of their parents, until they are of age, and able to make a personal decision to accept Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior for themselves.

09

Romans 12:2

We believe we are being perfected daily through the renewing of the mind and through a lifestyle of repentance, cleansing and forgiveness.

10

John 3:16

We believe the mission of God is the redemption of all people from every nation, tribe and language by the sharing of the gospel of Jesus Christ.

11

Matthew 28:16-20

We believe the church is called to make and mature disciples (followers of Jesus Christ) who in turn make disciples.

12

Ephesians 4:11

We believe in the 5 fold ministry of the Holy Spirit. That God appoints pastors, prophets, evangelist, teachers and apostles for the edifying of the body of Christ.

13

Galatians 3:28

We believe that women and men, once called are permitted to function in all areas of ministry since we are one in Christ Jesus.

14

Matthew 25:31-46

We believe that our Lord will one day return, the dead will be raised and the final judgment will take place.

We're located at 6 Belmont Road, Kingston 5, New Kingston, St. Andrew, Jamaica.

It's our way of saying come as you are! We're a community of real people with real struggles, walking together in faith. You don't need to have it all together to belong here, none of us do. However, we believe that encountering Christ transforms lives.

We're a non-denominational, charismatic church. We emphasize the authority of Scripture, the power of the Holy Spirit, and creating a welcoming environment for all.

Contemporary and Spirit-led! We love to worship God with passion through modern praise songs (expect to hear some Reggae), engaging teaching, and creating space for the Holy Spirit to move. Expect raised hands, heartfelt worship, and authentic encounters with God.
